As far as series finales go, Spell Bound is an underwhelming one. It started off a bit annoying, since I hate when books about magical characters have said magical character suddenly not have magic. What is the point!? Of course, this allows Sophie to discover other interesting stuff about herself. But she's really no use to anyone in this fight against raising demons for whatever purpose they're being raised for. Then the middle portion grabbed my attention because once again we're thrust into Hectate Hall, but things are certainly not as anyone remembered.Spell Bound was really all over the place for me. The beginning was a bit dull and frustrating, and honestly, I can't remember much of what happened even though I read it only about 3 hours ago. Not a good sign. The middle section was fun and exciting, since the school has been turned into something evil and Sophie and Friends are finally doing something to stop it. However, the ending? The big show down with the villain is of the "blink and you'll miss it' variety. I seriously had to reread that part, because I did miss it. It was over in a flash.
Spell Bound also marked the resolution of the love triangle. I'm actually hesitant to call it a love triangle, because it's not really. Sophie has obviously made her choice already, the other guy was just forced into the picture. I totally didn't believe her interest in either of them, so I honestly didn't care who she chose. But then things happen that essentially force her choice. It's the biggest cop-out ever for solving love triangles, but it didn't even matter, because like I said, Sophie already made her choice! It was just unnecessary.
In the end, Spell Bound was an okay ending. The characters set out to do what they needed to do, did it, and all is well again. It was just underwhelming. All of the major events were over in less than five pages, which meant everything was either too easy to begin with, or....I don't even know. It was all just over in an instant, so there was no build up of tension. Just done.

Spell Bound A Hex Hall Novel Rachel Hawkins Books Reviews
Just finished reading the final book in the trilogy and I can say I am completely satisfied with how it ended and can say I loved it. The book ended with a bang, you go through the various emotions of characters who died to characters who lived and leave with a satisfied feeling. The story flow was great, the action decent and overall character evolution compared to book 1 was right on target, you will enjoy this final book in the series and as well will see lots of the story sub plots get wrapped up. I can say one part towards the end seemed rushed but it wasn't enough to distract me as a whole, you will love the ending and leave with a smile. Take a chance and read the series you will enjoy it.
I read this book in half a day! The pacing was lightning fast. I didn't want to leave Sophie's world. I loved this book and couldn't wait to find out how things ended; but then it was over and I was sad to leave Sophie and Archer and Jenna behind. The writing was so smooth--nothing pulled me out of the story for a single second.
This was a great ending to the trilogy. I was so emotionally invested in the characters that I gasped and teared up a few times. I love Sophie and Jenna. They are true friends and the way they come through for each other is wonderful. Archer and Cal were both great characters and it was hard to decide who I wanted Sophie to be with. The magic and the world were really cool and I loved how all the threads of the family history came together. The ending was incredibly satisfying. I kinda want to reread the entire trilogy again and savor it one more time.
I really like this series, there were a few parts that I was a little disappointed with but the overall storyline was good. I think there should have been more scenes with Cal, I no he loved her but it was like he would just randomly pop in, he wasn't really around enough. I wasn't a huge fan of the underworld scene, there could have alot more to that, alot of other books that I hav read there always seems to be a few issues getting in and out of hell and yet they just walked in also once in hell there is usually sometime major that happens or a few fight scenes and there was none of that so yea I was disappointed. and why do the parents always stay behind while they send their kids out to save the world?
I did like how it was written it was a good change to what I usually read and I thought it was funny so I would recommend it
Spell Bound is the final book in the Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins and boy was it a doozy. The story picks up right where we left off in Demonglass, with Sophie trying to find her way to her mother.
Sophie is still the smartass that I absolutely love, after everything she has been though it has made her stronger and a little wiser. She still funny, witty and have the some of the best lines I have ever read. Soph has gone through some majorly bad s*** and the worst is nowhere near over. In Spell Bound Sophie is going to go through a lot more horrible stuff before she get her, I'm not going to say happily ever after because at the end of all the s*** that she and everyone else goes through I don't think that an happily ever is going to possible, but they get a decent ending.
Sophie ends up with the Brannicks and Cal, her dad and Archer are alive and they all team up to help stop Lara Cansoff's evil plan. The plot was excellent and everything flowed nicely and this book wrapped everything up.
Overall
Spell Bound had all sorts of supernatural creatures (of course), magic, quests, an truly evil plot, friends are made, there were family revelations and a death that was truly heartbreaking. So as you can imagine, I think Spell Bound was a really good read. I laughed (Sophie), cried, couldn't wait to see what happened next and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
